The first phase of the tramcar project in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, was open to the traffic at 2 pm on June 25, local media reported.

Spanning 10.6 kilometers, the route passes through Zhanqian road, Qingfeng road, Youquan road, and Fanggong road. There are 11 stations along this route.

The first tramcars depart from Binhelu Station at 5:30 am and from Jiaxingnan Station at 6:20 am. The last tramcars depart from Binhelu Station at 10:30 pm and from Jiaxingnan Station at 11:35 pm.

Tramcars depart every 10 minutes.

People can ride the tramcar free of charge until the end of this year's National Day Holiday on Oct 7. Passengers will still need to have their bus cards or public transport QR codes scanned before boarding the car. Those with no bus cards or QR codes need to display the ticket they received from the self-service ticket-checking machines at the station.

Passengers are required to wear face masks, display their green health QR codes and have their temperatures taken before the journey, according to the epidemic prevention requirements from the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government and Jiaxing municipal people's government.
