At the ceremony, Beijing primary school students Yao Muchen and Peng Youxin, who represented the Chinese Young Pioneers, and university students Feng Lin and Zhao Jianming, who represented the Chinese Communist Youth League, saluted the Communist Party of China and expressed their commitment to the Party's cause.

The four students jointly delivered an affectionate ode to the Party. "Today, we make a vow to the Party: Listen to the Party's call, be grateful to the Party and follow its lead," they said in unison.

"I didn't know my daughter was to lead the ode until I saw her on the live broadcast," said Ye Hongjie, Feng Lin's mother, "Before that, I only knew she was going to attend the ceremony."

Feng Lin was from Jiaxing, Zhejiang province, home to the Party's historic "Red Boat". One hundred years ago, the first National Congress of the Communist Party of China was held on a red boat on Nanhu Lake in Jiaxing city, Zhejiang province. It was there that the founding of the CPC was announced. The Red Boat thus became an icon in the history of the Communist Party of China.

"When Lin was very young, my wife and I would take her to pay tribute to the Red Boat, hoping to cultivate her love for the country, the Party and her hometown," said Feng Bo, Feng Lin's father.
