Wang Nan claims gold in Canoe Sprint World Cup

Wang Nan, hailing from Lishui, Zhejiang province, along with her teammates, secured the gold medal in the Women's Kayak Four 500m with a time of 1 min 32.78 sec on May 25 during the second station of the 2024 Canoe Sprint World Cup in Poznan, Poland.

Their championship marked a strong start for the Chinese team. Later that afternoon, Wang clinched a silver medal in the Kayak Single 200m.

Born in Qingyuan county, Wang is the first female Olympian in its history. Her exceptional talent was also on display at the 19th Hangzhou Asian Games, when she claimed gold with her partner in the Women's Kayak Double 500m Final.

The three-day World Cup in Poznan came to a close on May 26. The Chinese team concluded the competition with six gold, three silver, and one bronze medals, topping the medal table.

After the event, Wang will return to China with the team for seven weeks of pre-competition training, preparing for the canoeing events at the Paris Olympics in early August.
