Li Lanjuan, a renowned Chinese epidemiologist who has been frequently quoted after the COVID-19 outbreak, gave free diagnosis during a Mother's Day event in her hometown Xialyu town, Keqiao district, Shaoxing on May 9.

"My WeChat name is 'Xialyuqiao' as I am grateful for my hometown. Every Mother's Day I come back to give free diagnosis. May you all stay healthy," Li said with her strong Shaoxing accent.

Initiated by Li in 2017, many Shaoxing-born doctors will come home on Mother's Day and give free diagnosis.

This year, the annual event has developed into the first Shaoxing Healthcare and Leisure Festival. The main activities include group camping, forest yoga, and praying at Buddhist temples.
