Shaoxing subway line transports 1m passengers in first month

The Shaoxing Metro Line 1, which was put into operation on June 28, has transported over 1 million passengers as of July 25, local media reported on July 30.

The trains run every 9 minutes from China Textile City Station in Keqiao district, Shaoxing to Guniangqiao Station in Hangzhou's Xiaoshan district. It has a maximum speed of 100 kilometers per hour.

The daily passenger volume was about 37,700, including 14,100 passengers traveling between Shaoxing and Hangzhou.

"I live in Hangzhou but work in Shaoxing. It used to take me over 3 hours of driving," said Wang Yuefeng, a staff member of the Yangtze Delta Region Institute of Tsinghua University, Zhejiang.

"The subway changed everything. Now I can spend more time on my career in Shaoxing," he added.

On July 15, 21 companies headquartered in Keqiao district organized a job fair in Hangzhou and signed over 100 employment contracts.

The most frequently asked question was "Is your company near the metro line", according to the district's human resources and social securities department, organizer of the job fair.
