Zhejiang athletes earn medals on second day of Tokyo Paralympics

On Aug 26, the second day of the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Paralympics in Japan, athletes from East China's Zhejiang province earned one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals.

Team China swimmers won gold in the mixed 50-meter freestyle relay contest. Among them were Wang Lichao and Yao Zan, two swimmers from Zhejiang.

Wang also won silver in the men's 100-meter freestyle S5-level contest.

Born and raised in the provincial capital of Hangzhou, Wang lost both arms in an accident at a young age but nonetheless demonstrates amazing talent in swimming. He also looks forward to delivering a solid performance in the 2022 Asian Paralympic Games to be held in his hometown of Hangzhou.

Hua Dongdong, a Ningbo native with a congenital eye disease, took home a bronze medal in the men's 400-meter freestyle S11-level contest.

Li Zhangyu claimed a bronze medal in the men's 3-km individual pursuit C1-level track cycling contest. Li is an experienced athlete from Hangzhou who has won multiple championships at previous Paralympics events and will further strive for a gold medal in other competitions over the coming days.
