Shaoxing University officially unveiled its Lu Xun College on April 28.

Lu Xun (1881-1936), whose real name was Zhou Shuren, was known for his versatility as a short story writer, essayist, literary critic and editor.

The event marked a significant moment as the college is now named after the great literary figure, Lu Xun, tightly integrating his legacy with the city.

Originally founded in 1909 as Shan Hui Primary Normal School, Lu Xun once served as the supervisor (principal) of this institution. Shaoxing University has long upheld the spirit of Lu Xun, dedicating itself to the study, research, and promotion of his ideas.

The university has achieved remarkable success in various aspects of Lu Xun's legacy, including his relationship with the local culture and his ties to Shaoxing. It has hosted academic seminars such as "Lu Xun and Zhejiang Culture," garnering significant attention both domestically and internationally.

By naming its Humanities College after Lu Xun, Shaoxing University not only showcases the city's cultural heritage but also signifies its ambition to establish the college as a leading institution in China.

Zhao Yang, president of the university, emphasized that Shaoxing nurtured Lu Xun, and in return, Lu Xun left a profound cultural legacy in his hometown. The cultural endeavors and industries inspired by Lu Xun's legacy continue to drive the city's development and cultural innovation forward.
