Shaoxing in Zhejiang province welcomed about 1.53 million tourists during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, marking a 29.44 percent increase compared to the previous year.

Since the beginning of the year, Shaoxing has experienced a 23.19 percent year-on-year increase in overnight visitors, the highest growth rate in Zhejiang.

According to data from Feizhu, Alibaba's travel portal, ticket bookings for Shaoxing's tourist attractions surged by approximately 80 percent during the Dragon Boat Festival compared to the same period last year.

The Dragon Boat Festival in Shaoxing was a showcase of traditional and cultural activities, including dragon boat races, zongzi (sticky rice dumplings) making, appreciating intangible cultural heritage displays, and enjoying lotus flowers.

Shaoxing's famous figures' residences, museums, and scenic spots continuously introduced new cultural and tourism products, enriching the visitor experience.

The combination of traditional festivities and modern tourism offerings has cemented Shaoxing's reputation as a prime destination for cultural tourism in Zhejiang province, said local culture and tourism authorities.
