The 2024 Shaoxing Overseas Culture Week commenced in Paris on June 21, marking the first time Shaoxing has hosted a cultural week abroad.

In the opening remarks, officials from Shaoxing noted that this year marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France. They highlighted that every historical encounter between the two nations has demonstrated how cultural exchanges can transcend barriers and foster coexistence.

The leaders expressed hope that this event would invite friends from all backgrounds to visit Shaoxing and appreciate the rich cultural heritage of this ancient city. The goal is to promote higher-level and broader cooperation.

The event featured promotions of Shaoxing's cultural tourism and yellow rice wine, presenting the city's unique appeal through six dimensions: mountains, waters, goods, people, culture, and the city itself.

Traditional Shaoxing operas, such as Yueju Opera, were performed, and young calligraphers demonstrated their skills on-site. Following the opening ceremony, guests explored the "Famous City, Growing Prosperity" calligraphy exhibition and a cultural and creative products exhibition.
