Visitors to Shaoxing these days are often surprised by encounters with a big-headed Lu Xun mascot.

Zhou Shuren (1881-1936), better known by his pen name Lu Xun, left a profound impact on Chinese literature and culture. His extensive body of work — including novels, essays, and poems — often employed sharp wit to critique society and human nature.

Whether he's sitting on a traditional wooden boat or wandering through ancient streets and alleys, the sight of this playful figure has become a beloved part of the city's tourist experience.

Enthusiastic visitors have even taken to social media to share tips and guides for finding and "checking in" with the mascot.

Following the Lu Xun mascot on tours of his former residence offers both locals and tourists a fresh perspective. Some tourists said the iconic figure from their school textbooks is personally guiding them through stories rich in history and culture.
