The State Administration for Market Regulation has recently dropped the 2024 "Enterprise Standard Leaders" list. Shaoxing companies are leading it with 101 out of 171 textile industry standards — almost 60 percent.

Innovation is the mantra for Shaoxing's over 18,000 textile companies. In the first 11 months of 2024, Shaoxing's major textile enterprises led the province in R&D investment intensity, hitting 4 percent.

With 5G and the industrial internet, Keqiao district has linked over 3,000 companies and 15,000 pieces of equipment, boosting repair efficiency by 30 percent.

Keqiao's China Textile City accounts for a quarter of the global textile trading volume, with transaction value soaring from 25 billion yuan ($3.41 billion) 20 years ago to over 370 billion yuan today.

At the Zhejiang Provincial Innovation Center of Advanced Textile Technology, which partners with over 100 companies and research institutes, a single thread can become anything: medical artificial blood vessels, deep-sea special cables, aviation-grade fiberglass mats, and more.

"Innovation has led Shaoxing to achieve countless possibilities, and the future holds even greater promise," said Professor Qi Dongming, deputy director of Zhejiang Provincial Innovation Center of Advanced Textile Technology.
