Zhoushan embraces low-altitude economy

Updated : 2024-06-18 (chinadaily.com.cn)

On June 16, a batch of seafood weighing approximately 10 kilograms was transported from Huaniao Island in Shengsi county using the Fengzhou 90 drone. After a 20-minute flight, it successfully arrived at the Majishan drone launch point.

This flight marks the successful completion of the first inter-island drone delivery in Shengsi county, Zhoushan, Zhejiang province.

Shengsi has also successfully completed validation flights for routes from Shanghai Jinshan to Sijiao and from Sijiao to Gouqi. With this, the drone delivery route from Shanghai to Huaniao is now fully operational.

The county has opened four drone delivery routes in the direction of Shanghai and two in the direction of Zhoushan. The Jinshan-Sijiao route has reduced delivery time by 80 percent compared to traditional waterway freight and can achieve all-weather operation, fully meeting the market's urgent demand for high-efficiency delivery.

Since the beginning of this year, Shengsi has been exploring and expanding the application scenarios for drone logistics transportation, allowing island residents to enjoy a new "low-altitude+" consumption experience.

Compared to traditional sea and land transportation modes, drones can deliver packages within route range to consumers in as little as one hour. Seafood products can be delivered to mainland areas in the fastest and freshest way possible.

Authorities are committed to further clarifying the development direction of the low-altitude economic industry by enhancing drone infrastructure construction and accelerating the attraction of enterprises to settle in the area, noted a local official.
