Ma'ao subdistrict in Dinghai district, Zhoushan, Zhejiang province has in recent years been ramping up efforts to become more pet-friendly.

Efforts include increasing policy support to help pet-related businesses expand their production lines and capture more market share in niche segments such as pet food and supplies.

Xia Weibo, deputy director of the subdistrict, stated that authorities are focusing on creating pet-friendly spaces and enhancing pet-related consumer services to boost rural tourism.

The subdistrict has established seven pet-friendly spots and will continue to host pet-related activities to further enhance its pet-friendly atmosphere.

Efforts are also underway to further expand the industrial chain by introducing pet-related projects and fostering the development of pet tourism.
