Updated : 2024-07-01 (chinadaily.com.cn)

An art museum in Huangsha village, Dinghai district, Zhoushan, Zhejiang province recently opened to the public.

The museum is currently hosting an exhibition featuring dozens of paintings, including portraits, fishermen's paintings, and resin artworks created by artists who live, work, or study in Dinghai district.

The exhibition will run until July 10.

"My first impression of these works is their vibrancy, especially the many children's paintings, which are lively, full of rural charm, and exude a sense of freedom," remarked An Zhikun, the curator of the exhibition and an instructor from the China Academy of Art who is stationed in the district's Xinluotou village.

An also noted that the museum's opening day saw the inauguration of a practical base, establishing a bridge for art-based rural development between the China Academy of Art and the museum.

This collaboration will see students and faculty from the academy assisting in the development of cultural and creative products, injecting new vitality into the village's rural vitalization efforts, according to An.

Authorities will use the museum to host summer social practice activities, aesthetic education courses, and various exhibitions, aiming to attract more artists to live in the village, which would in turn lead to the creation of more artworks and allow more visitors to experience the village's unique charm, noted Liu Qi, a local official.

The museum, which boasts exhibition rooms, DIY classrooms, and studios, is part of efforts by authorities to develop the cultural and tourism industry.
