The 2020 music season of Quanzhou Grand Theater kicked off on Oct 24, with Feng Mantian, a master of the ruan -- a traditional Chinese plucked, stringed instrument -- performing in Quanzhou, a city in East China's Fujian province.

A piece of improvised and original music that was played represented Feng's love of the ruan and showcased the instrument's unique musical charms.

Feng also introduced to the audience the different types and timbre of the ruan and gave a talk on the cultural background of traditional ethnic musical instruments.

In addition, six members from the youth orchestra of the theater performed the patriotic song, Me and My Motherland.

The 2020 music season is the first blockbuster brand music season of Quanzhou Grand Theater.

It involves more than a dozen concerts with different styles, high standards and quality, including classical masterpieces and innovative and trend-setting works.
