Traditional opera contest heralds Lantern Festival in Zhangye

Thousands gathered to enjoy this cultural feast, which has become a signature event in Zhangye over its 12-year history. The contest has notably attracted growing interest from younger generations, injecting fresh vitality into this traditional art form.

"This year's competition attracted over 100 contestants," said the organizer. "Through preliminary and semifinal rounds, 25 performers advanced to today's finals, showcasing the enduring appeal of Qinqiang Opera in our region."

The contest not only celebrates the cultural heritage of Qinqiang Opera but also demonstrates its continuing vitality, serving as a bridge between tradition and contemporary society.
