Secretary-General Zhang Ming leads the SCO Observer Mission to monitor the referendum on constitutional amendments in Uzbekistan1.jpg

On 30 April, SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming led the SCO Observer Mission to monitor the referendum on the draft constitutional law of the Republic of Uzbekistan On the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Zhang Ming met with Zayniddin Nizamkhodjayev, Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and visited more than ten polling stations in Tashkent and Tashkent Region.

The Observer Mission assessed referendum preparations, voter turnout, public oversight, and talked with representatives of election commissions, local residents and other observers.

At the conclusion of the monitoring mission, the Secretary-General presented the Final Statement of the SCO Observer Mission, which acknowledged the openness and transparency of the referendum and its compliance with Uzbekistani law.

During the briefing, Zhang Ming also answered media questions about the Mission's work.
