Global Youth Talent Talk held to boost innovation

The 2021 Global Youth Talent Talk was held on May 27, 2021, via a video link with six industry experts, senior investors and young entrepreneurs from China and Germany exchanging views on innovation and entrepreneurship.

The event was hosted by the Beijing Overseas Talents Center under the guidance of the Beijing Municipal Talent Work Bureau.

Cases promoting innovation were shared at the conference. Participants discussed the  necessary factors, driving power, the role of the German education system, social culture, and the German experience that can be learned by Chinese entrepreneurs.

Over 30 outstanding youth representatives from different industries participated in the event.

Hu Yixiong, deputy Party secretary and deputy director of the Beijing Overseas Talents Center, delivered an opening speech.

He said Beijing is developing into an international science and technology innovation center, and the city has been planning the efforts with a broader and high-level vision. Hu stressed that the capital city welcomes young talents who are interested in innovation and entrepreneurship.

Beijing Overseas Talents Center will give full play to the role of the Beijing International Youth Innovation and Development Forum as an important platform for young talents to carry out international exchanges and cooperation. The center will make it a key part in accelerating the convergence of youth innovation, Hu added. The Global Youth Talent Talk is an important part of the forum.

Ute Elisabeth Weiland, CEO of Germany – Land of Ideas, an institution that incubates youth innovation, delivered a keynote speech.

Weiland emphasized that cross-industry and cross-border communication are necessary factors to provide a bigger platform for young people to exchange ideas.

The four other guests who participated in the roundtable discussion were Robert Heinecke, founder and CEO of Breeze Technologies; Csaba Singer, founder and CEO of Hybrid-Airplane Technologies; Chen Zhaopeng, founder and CEO of Agile Robots; and Sun Yonghong, vice-president of Sino-German Industrial Technology Research Institute.

Roundtable discussion

Other activities of the 2021 Global Youth Talent Talk will focus on the topic of youth innovation, from the perspective of cities and universities. They will help highlight Beijing's role in promoting international exchange of young talents.
