2021 Beijing Tour for Overseas Talents kicks off
The opening ceremony of the 2021 Beijing Tour for Overseas Talents and Beijing International Youth Innovation and Development Forum were held in Beijing, on Dec 14. The Beijing Consensus 2021 for Global Youth Innovation and Development was also released.
The event was hosted by the Beijing Overseas Talent Center under the guidance of the Beijing Municipal Talent Work Bureau.
Gui Sheng, director of the BMTWB and Party secretary of the BOTC, delivered the opening speech. Dr. Hans-Peter Friedrich, founder of the German "Bridge to China" Association, and Chen Dehai, secretary-general of the China-ASEAN Center, gave speeches.
The consensus was an initiative jointly launched by the BOTC, Dr. Friedrich, Yenching Academy of Peking University, Schwarzman College of Tsinghua University and other institutions and individuals.
It aims to call on outstanding scientists, entrepreneurs, investment and financing experts, scholars, and social activists to work together to support the innovation and development of youth.
Up to now, nearly 50 organizations around the world have confirmed or are ready to join the global innovation service network in Beijing, and more than 20 of them have signed the consensus.
Shao Feng, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and deputy director of the National Institute of Biological Sciences, Beijing; Zheng Zhijie, chief representative to China of the Beijing Representative Office of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; Wang Dianjun, president of Tsinghua University High School; and Li Junhui, secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, delivered speeches on human health community, carbon neutrality, and inclusive innovation.
In a youth roundtable forum, scholars and business representatives exchanged views on the measures to help young people shape international thinking, create a sustainable future, and embark on innovation.
The event has been held 10 times, drawing widespread attention from overseas talents. Thanks to the International Youth Innovation and Development Forum, this year's forum brought in more innovative topics, and attracted hundreds of young talents from 26 countries and regions. Among them, 140 took part in the event in Beijing.
Special activities were held in Beijing's Tongzhou district and Huairou Science City, in addition to online policy presentations and roadshows that helped link overseas talents with innovation parks, venture capital institutions, and employers.
