Event highlights new opportunities in S&T innovation between China, Israel
The second session of the 2022 Youth Innovation Talk was hosted by Beijing Overseas Talents Center (BOTC) and organized by the Providence Academy via video link on Dec 7.
With the theme, "New Opportunities in Sino-Israeli Technology and Innovation Partnerships", the online program brought together scientists, entrepreneurs and young science & technology talents from China and Israel.
Zeng Fulin, a member of the Party Committee of the Beijing Overseas Talents Center and vice-president of the center, addresses the second session of the 2022 Youth Innovation Talk on Dec 7.
In his opening speech, Zeng Fulin, a member of the Party Committee of the BOTC and vice-president of the center, extended a warm welcome to attendees and briefed them on the importance of invigorating the country through science and education.
Zeng reviewed the history of the cooperation between the BOTC and Israeli S&T innovation institutions. He noted that Israel has accumulated rich experience and developed sound models in the education on science and technology, independent research and the promotion of employment for young people. He called on young Chinese and Israeli people to strengthen their exchanges and cooperation.
He said Beijing is moving ahead with building a national integrated demonstration zone for greater openness in the services sector. He said the China (Beijing) Pilot Free Trade Zone is making strides in its business environment and the city looks forward to the influx of more international talents and overseas returnees.

Avram Hershko, a Nobel laureate in chemistry, an academician of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities, and a foreign associate of both the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and the United States National Academy of Sciences, delivered a keynote speech.
He praised the fast development made by Israel in the fields of healthcare, material science, intelligent manufacturing, new energy and modern agriculture. He called on the two countries to deepen bilateral cooperation and seek common development in scientific innovation.
Hershko said he was delighted to find an increasing number of young people showing interest in science and encouraged their proactive participation in international exchanges and cooperation.
Wang Shi, honorary chairman of the Board of Directors of China Vanke, a leading real estate developer, shared his experiences during study tours to Israel. He encouraged young people to visit more places, learn more knowledge, dare to pursue innovation and try something new.

Six Chinese and Israeli young people held a roundtable discussion on topics as the new trends in investment, characteristics of young Chinese and Israeli entrepreneurs, and how the two countries approach innovation.
The online dialogue event was viewed by over 11,000 people from across the world through Chinese messaging platform WeChat.
