12th Beijing Tour for Overseas Talents poised to attract more overseas talents
The 12th Beijing Tour for Overseas Talents & the First Global Promotional Event opened online on the morning of December 22.
Held by the Beijing Overseas Talents Center (BOTC), the event brought together 13,000 overseas talents from countries including the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, the UK, and Russia.

Several speakers explained the efforts made by Beijing to promote its high-quality development, adding that they will integrate education, technology and talents to create an attractive environment for overseas returnees to pursue innovative development.
The 12th Beijing Tour for Overseas Talents will hold international promotional activities, strengthen platform building, provide better online and offline services to overseas returnees, expand channels for overseas citizens to learn more about Beijing, and create a systematic and whole-chain service platform for talent innovation.
The online activities will primarily focus on key industrial sectors crucial for the innovative development of Beijing. Global promotional conferences will be held on different themes and in different regions to explain Beijing’s preferential policies and measures to attract overseas talents. Talent attraction policies and job opportunities in Beijing will be released to help overseas returnees quickly find their ideal jobs, and facilitate channels for them to return to China.
The offline activities include visits to industrial parks and sci-tech enterprises, policy explanations, and exchanges between job seekers and prospective employers.
Lin Jianhua, a member of the standing committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) of Haidian district and vice-district governor of Haidian, Yu Chengwen, vice-director of the administrative committee of the Beijing Future Science Park, Tao Binwu, a specially invited expert of Hairou District People's Government, and Mao Shanhong, a specially invited expert of the government of the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area and development director of the administrative committee of the industrial zone, talked about the industrial ecology, innovation and entrepreneurship environment and supporting policies for talents in Zhongguancun Science City, Beijing Future Science Park, Huairou Science City and Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, briefed attendees on key talent attraction initiatives, and extended a warm welcome to overseas returnees to participate in innovation and entrepreneurship in the capital city.

During the promotional event, 126 employment units, including universities, hospitals, scientific research institutions and enterprises, released over 2,000 job opportunities in the sectors of electronic information, bio-medicine, energy-saving and new energy, and new materials.
In addition, seven representative units talked about their development, vacant jobs and treatment at the promotional event.

During the livestream session, four districts, seven employment units and the BOTC interacted with overseas returnees and responded to their questions.
Participants said that the event provided them with lots of employment information, allowed them to hold direct dialogues with departments responsible for the formulation and implementation of talent attraction policies, and offered the channel for them to support national development with their learning abroad.
Those in attendance of the exchange activity also included representatives from the educational departments of Chinese general consulates in Los Angeles and Vancouver and of Chinese embassies to South Korea and New Zealand, as well as professional service institutions for overseas talents.
Attendees said that the opening of the 12th Beijing Tour for Overseas Talents & the First Global Promotional Event demonstrated the efforts made by the capital city to attract overseas returnees in terms of favorable policies and its innovation & entrepreneurship environment, and efforts to expand the channels for them to build contact with the city.
The BOTC will closely follow the results of the first global promotional event, help overseas returnees find their ideal work, recommend outstanding talents to all types of employment units, roll out more promotional activities, provide entrepreneurship and employment services through the Global Network for Innovation Services, and put in place an integrated service chain for overseas returnees in terms of policies, attraction, assessment, cultivation, administrative services, career development and personal lives.
