Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital

Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital (BTCH) affiliated to Tsinghua University is a non-profit comprehensive public institution under the supervision of both Beijing Municipal Administration of Hospitals and Tsinghua University. During its construction, the hospital received a generous donation from the Formosa Plastics Group and Taiwan Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. The hospital is located in Tiantongyuan, Changping District, Beijing. It officially opened on November 28th,2014 with 1000 beds in first stage construction.The hospital became a designated National Medical Insurance hospital in November, 2015, and is able to directly reimburse medical expense remotely since June, 2017. The second stage construction has officially began on 30th December, 2019 with an additional 500 beds planned.On November 25, 2021, the hospital officially became A-class designated medical institution of Beijing basic medical insurance, and medical insurance personnel in Beijing can make settlements in real time without choosing a designated medical institution.

Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital has established a full range of medical departments, including Internal Medicine, Surgery, Gynecology&Obstetrics and Pediatrics, Specialized Dept., Emergency and Critical Care, Medical Technical Dept. and Family Medicine Dept., adding up to 50 clinical and technical sections.It has formed the Hepatobiliary Center, Organ Transplantation Center, Cardiovascular center, Digestive Disease Center, Neuro Center and other advantageous development centers, focusing on the construction of three centers: Infectious Disease Center, Critical Care Center and Tumor center. Other key sections include ENT, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Urology, Rehabilitation Medicine, Orthopedics, Endocrinology and Metabolism, Dermatology, Radiology, Vascular Surgery and Ophthalmology have emerged.The hospital has developed more than 100 advanced medical technologies at home and abroad, setting multiple world records, and successfully treated a large number of complex and critically ill patients from home and abroad with advanced technology and high-quality services. Learning from the experience of world-class academic hospitals and advanced medical education ideas, Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital has established an integrated training system of resident physicians and specialists, and has initiated the construction of a medical education system (MD) based on organ systems. As the Doctor of Clinical Medicine (MD and PhD) degree authorization point of Tsinghua University, the hospital has successively launched the training programs of full-time professional master of clinical medicine, master of combination of engineering with medicine, eight-year program of outstanding physician and scientist, outstanding academic physician (4+4), full-time and part-time professional doctoral students of clinical medicine, etc. The hospital has 15 training bases for resident doctors and specialists certified by the State and Beijing. It is the training base for general Surgeons of the Royal College of Surgery , Edinburgh. The Hepatobiliary Surgery Dept.is the International Clinical Specialist Fellowship Training Centers.Neurosurgery became the University of Washington neurosurgery training site. Urology has become the The World Endourology Society Fellowship training base, and is also approved as the European Urology Society "Set up" urology endoscopic surgery standardized training project. In December 2018, the hospital was approved as the first batch of national clinical Teaching and Training Demonstration Center.　　

Supported by the science and technology advantages of Tsinghua University, BTCH takes solving clinical problems and meeting social health needs as its engine, and takes the combination of engineering with medicine as the breakthrough point to establish a health technology innovation system driven by clinical problems. BTCH  is also the National drug clinical trial agency and national medical device clinical trial institution. In November 2021, BTCH was approved as the Beijing Engineering Research Center for Key Technologies of Smart Health Consortium. In September 2022, the Institute of Organ Transplantation and Bionic Medicine of Tsinghua University was established based on the BTCH.　　

Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital has also established a complete social service work system based on the model of Taiwan Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, with volunteers who provide warm service for patients. The hospital has founded Tsinghua Changgung Development Fund and Social Service Fund to develop clinical medicine and help patients in need. In response to the Healthy China program, BTCH holds more than one hundred public lectures and free medical consultations each year. Since 2015, BTCH has taken an active part in medical poverty alleviation and rural revitalization, sent medical practitioners to Xinjiang and Tibet and carried out precision medical assistance.The Tsinghua Changgung Telemedicine System with independent intellectual property rights was launched in September, 2017, providing remote consultation and academic exchange services.
