Huangpu picks up pace of urban renovation
A collective groundbreaking ceremony for 50 urban renovation projects was held in Guangzhou's Huangpu district on June 29.
The business lots 3 and 4 of the Shabu residential community transformation project began construction on the day. Together, they will involve a total demolition area of nearly 120,000 square meters, and a rebuilt area of nearly 300,000 sq m.
A large shopping center and ultra-high-rise office building complex will be built on the land lot 3 and become a new landmark in Shabu, while an "aerial corridor" in business lot 4 will connect the land lots along East Huangpu Road. Once construction is completed in 2024, they will generate a revenue of nearly 100 million yuan ($15.48 million) for the community.

It is located at the key node of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong and Guangzhou-Zhuhai-Macao scientific and technological innovation corridors, and serves as a hub between Guangzhou Science City and China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City.
The "TOD" project will utilize a new-generation industry-city integration development concept and feature high-quality urban support facilities. Highlighted will be a comprehensive transport hub, an "aerial garden", an urban park with mountain and water views, a cultural complex, a business-residential complex and a national technological innovation center.
