86 major projects complete construction in GDD
Eighty-six projects related to scientific and technological innovation, advanced manufacturing, modern service, rural rejuvenation, livelihood and infrastructure completed construction in the Guangzhou Development District (GDD) on Dec 18.
These projects involve a total investment of 86.1 billion yuan ($13.5 billion), and are expected to generate an output value of around 156.2 billion yuan.
The Beijing-Guangzhou Collaborative Innovation Center and Junheng Square, which form part of the GDD Industrial Park for Specialized, Elaborative, Characteristic, and Innovative Enterprises, was put into operation.
The Beijing-Guangzhou Collaborative Innovation Center will bring in projects from biomedicine, artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing, new-generation information technology and high-tech testing sectors.
In addition, the projects of five specialized, elaborative, characteristic, and innovative enterprises – Hexin Instrument, Fangbang Electronics, Jet Bio-Filtration, Haozhi Industrial and Yipinhong Pharmacy – were also put into production.
GDD's biomedicine sector has been injected with new vitality with BeiGene's innovation center, Kangrong Dongfang's production base and Medprin Regenerative Medical Technologies's science and technology headquarters base all becoming operational.

The second phase of Guangzhou CanSemi Technology has become the sole mass production platform for 12-inch chips in Guangdong province and will strive to serve as a first-class integrated circuit innovation platform.
In terms of education, the Guangzhou Experimental High School will soon provide education to 3,000 students with 30 classes for juniors and 60 classes for seniors. Guangzhou SingChin Academy, the first overseas cooperative project of the Singapore Hwa Chong family of schools, will also offer a 12-year education to 3,000 students.
The first phase of the Affiliated Women and Children's Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University completed construction as well. It will be able to offer outpatient, inpatient and healthcare services to 550,000 women and children annually.
