The 2023 China (Zhengzhou) Frozen and Refrigerated Food Exhibition was held at the Zhengzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center from Aug 8 to 10. Maoming promoted its pre-prepared dishes featuring tilapia to the public.

Maoming tilapia was named a "star product" at the awards ceremony of China Frozen Food Industry Star Product, which was a part of the exhibition on Aug 9.

The organizers also invited internet bloggers, food experts, and media reporters to promote its products, expanding the influence of the Maoming tilapia pre-prepared dish brand.

Maoming is known as the tilapia capital of China. It has built an important cultivation base for high-quality tilapia. One out of every 12 of these fish in the world that are consumed comes from Maoming.

The city is now promoting a development model called "five trees, one fish and one table of dishes", and is cultivating a number of modern agricultural industrial clusters worth more than 10 billion yuan ($1.38 billion).

The term "five trees" refers to lychees, longans, agarwood, Exocarpium citri grandis (also known as Huajuhong, a tree used in traditional Chinese medicine) and Sanhua plums. The "one fish" refers to tilapia, while the "one table of dishes" alludes to the pre-prepared dishes industry.
