Maoming celebrates 2023 Chinese farmers' harvest festival

During the 6th anniversary of the Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival, Maoming city held various activities to showcase the joy of rural vitalization and farmers' harvests on Sept 23.

More than 40 enterprises gathered to exhibit and sell high-quality agricultural products and processed goods. Different districts and counties displayed their unique local products and many people visited the exhibition to buy goods.

In addition, the China Construction Bank's Maoming Branch conducted live streams and sold featured agricultural products. They also collaborated with local insurance companies and Pacific Insurance Company's Maoming Branch to provide credit support to farmers.

In the first half of this year, Maoming's total agricultural output reached 54.26 billion yuan ($7.43 billion), a year-on-year growth of 5.2 percent and ranking first in Guangdong province.

Maoming is the largest litchi-producing region in the world, and in 2023, total litchi production of the city reached a historical high of 620,900 metric tons. The production and value of longan, pomelo, sanhua plum, agarwood, tilapia, and pre-packaged vegetables also achieved significant growth.

In addition, Maoming is dedicated to accelerating the construction of modern marine ranches and has included the fishing port economic zone as a pilot area for a national coastal fishing port economic zone. According to statistics, the marine product yield in Maoming reached 373,700 tons in 2023.
