Maoming's new tourist train offers scenic rides through open-pit ecological park

The long-awaited Maoming Youchengxu open-pit ecological park tourist train has begun trial operations, delighting both residents and visitors alike. The train currently runs between Tanwu Station and Shangdong Station, operating daily from 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm, with departures every hour. During the trial period, which lasts until Dec 31, tickets will be available for 30 yuan ($4.3), with a 5-yuan discount on offer for Maoming residents. Tickets allow for unlimited rides on the day of purchase.

On Sept 26, the second day of trial operations, many eager passengers boarded the train at Shangdong Station. The train, powered by electricity, reflects a commitment to green and sustainable tourism. The lush Haoxin Lake route treats passengers to picturesque views of the lake and surrounding countryside, while the train's interior features screens displaying Maoming's tourist attractions and local delicacies, as well as photos showcasing the transformation of the ecological park.

The train's route, centered around Jintang town in Maonan, connects several villages, including Tanwu, Shangdong, Youganwo, Yaxiang, Tianan, and Hongshan. The entire route spans approximately 22 kilometers, with the segment between Shangdong and Tanwu stations covering about 2.5 km. The train travels at a maximum speed of 7.2 kilometers per hour, with a one-way trip taking around 25 minutes.
