The Gaozhou Sports Center in Maoming, a subsite for the 17th Guangdong Provincial Games, is nearing completion. This center, which began construction on Feb 24, 2021, represents a major investment in Gaozhou's sports infrastructure and community fitness facilities.

The Gaozhou Sports Center encompasses a comprehensive range of facilities, including a stadium, gymnasium, swimming center, sports school dormitory, and public fitness center. The center covers an area of approximately 22 hectares and has received 600 million yuan ($84.23 million) in investment. The main structures, namely the stadium, gymnasium, and swimming center, have been completed, while the public fitness center and fitness plaza are already in use. The sports school dormitory is currently undergoing mechanical and electrical installation and interior decoration.

The Gaozhou municipal bureau culture, radio, television, tourism and sports is committed to ensuring the Gaozhou Sports Center’s timely completion, aiming for the entire center to be operational by October 2025. It will serve as a landmark showcasing Gaozhou's charm, host events for the 2026 Guangdong Provincial Games and provide a venue for community sports and fitness activities. This development is expected to meet public demand for more sports and cultural activities, enhance Gaozhou's image, and promote the growth of the local sports industry.
