On New Year’s Day, an oil tanker with a capacity of 300,000 tons has docked in the Port of Zhanjiang, representing a first in its kind.

The arrival of the supertanker with 300,000 tons of products in Zhanjiang on January 1, 2015, follows a series of renovations in the port by the Zhanjiang Bureau of Maritime Affairs in recent years with the aim to better serve the economic and social construction of the Port of Zhanjiang.

Among the renovations and development works conducted by the Port Authority are elimination of six different kinds of marine administrative fees and creating green and convenient channels for supertankers. Such alterations have ensured a safer and more stable local marine traffic and substantially increased port revenues and the efficiency of custom clearance procedures.

As a result of such regeneration work, oil cargo volume at the Port’s jurisdiction zone has reached 25 million tons in 2014, and the oil products throughput is expected to hit 30 million tons by 2015 as international oil prices drop.
