Zhanjiang Port's foreign trade volume amounted to $3.45 billion in the first quarter of 2015. The value of imported goods totaled $3.02 billion, accounting for 95.4 percent of the total value, according to the Zhanjiang inspection and quarantine bureau.

The throughput capacity of Zhanjiang Port exceeded 148,600 twenty-equivalent-unit (TEU) containers, an increase of 28.91 percent over last year.

The port office of Guangdong Provincial Government has decided to temporarily open three wharfs in Zhanjiang Port, which is expected to lead to a sharp increase in its handling capacity.
