The interior decoration and outdoor auxiliary projects of Suixi Stadium (Lion Dance Square) in Zhanjiang's Suixi county is near completion and will soon be put into use after some tests, according to yinsha.com on May 12.

The stadium will hold a taekwondo test event on May 24, in preparation for four-day taekwondo competition of the 14th Guangdong Provincial Games to be held from August 12 to 15.

Located on the Nonglin Road in Suicheng town, the stadium covers an area of of 12,210 square meters. The highest point of the building is 28 meters.

The stadium consists of one indoor and one outdoor field. The indoor part includes a basketball court, which has 1,540-seat capacity, a fitness center and a multi-functional conference hall.

The outdoor sports field covers an area of 9,300 square meters, consisting of three outdoor basketball courts, a tennis court, some small playgrounds and other sports facilities. There is a parking space to accommodate 150 vehicles in total.

The stadium was shaped like an awakening male lion, featuring Suixi's reputation as the "hometown of Chinese lion dance".

After the Provincial Games, the stadium will remain open and be used to benefit the local residents.
