The 36 offshore wind power units of the Zhanjiang Wailuo offshore wind power project have been fully installed, marking the successful completion of the installation of the first large-megawatt offshore wind power project in Guangdong province.

As of Dec 18, 2019,  32 wind power units of the wind power project have been connected to the grid, with the cumulative on-grid power reaching more than 56 million kilowatt-hours. The remaining wind power units will be put into use by the end of the year.

The Zhanjiang Wailuo offshore wind power project is located in Xuwen county. It was invested in and constructed by Zhanjiang Wind Power Co, a subsidiary of Guangdong Energy Group. The total installed capacity of the project is 198,000 kW, with a total investment of about 3.75 billion yuan ($534.48 million). It is expected to not only bring great economic and environmental benefits, but also provide a strong guarantee for the province to adjust and optimize the energy structure.
