National Modern Agricultural Industrial Park of Potou district in Zhanjiang has set up a management committee to conduct professional planning of projects, funds, and land use for prawn breeding, processing, and trading, the leading industry in the park, thus building a national prawn trading exhibition center.

Zhanjiang is the largest prawn breeding, processing, trading, and export base in the country. This year, the prawn farming area in the industrial park reached 56,000 mu (3,733.33 hectares), with an output of 106.66 million tons.

The industrial park has planned six major projects and 23 other projects in phases, with a total planned investment of 2.28 billion yuan ($325.68 million).

As the largest prawn trading market in China, Potou district is determined to build a national prawn trading and display center. At present, 70 leading enterprises in agricultural products processing have settled in Potou district, including 15 leading enterprises above the provincial level. In addition, five provincial-level and above scientific research institutions have been introduced to the district to promote the development of prawn industries.

Potou district also strives to make use of its abundant coastline and island shoreline resources to develop eco-tourism, as well as promote leisure agriculture and rural tourism.
