Zhanjiang media outlets contribute to battle against epidemic

Since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pneumonia, Zhanjiang journalists have reported on information related to the disease and its spread, as well as the government's measures to prevent and control the epidemic, drawing attention of the public and helping them understand the development of the epidemic.

Zhanjiang media outlets have reported on the unremitting efforts of frontline workers in the battle against the disease, such as health care and grass-roots communities, as well as detailed the progress that the government and enterprises have made in combating the epidemic and implementing epidemic prevention measures, including health materials production, transportation, public security, and border defense.

As of Feb 16, the Zhanjiang publicity department has coordinated and deployed more than 30 central and provincial mainstream media and well-known commercial websites, including People.cn, Nanfang Daily, Zhanjiang Daily, Zhanjiang Radio and TV Station, Tencent, and Toutiao.com, launching more than 800 special reports that have generated a total of about 12 million views, as well as 500,000 likes and forwards.

Atlas, short videos, H5, and other forms have been used to expand the channels of publicity. Short videos posted on WeChat and video sharing site Douyin by Zhanjiang Radio and TV Station have received over 3 million views and 100,000 likes.

In the future, the Zhanjiang publicity department will focus on covering Party members and cadres fighting at the grass-roots level of the outbreak, as well as businesses and industries overcoming difficulties to resume production, encouraging the public to contribute to the fight against the novel coronavirus.
