As Zhanjiang's enterprises gradually resume work and production, the risks of imported novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases from overseas has gradually increased. The Zhanjiang foreign affairs office has adopted four effective measures to prevent and control imported cases of COVID-19 from abroad.

Establish special teams to prevent and control overseas COVID-19 cases

The teams consist of officials from various government departments, and a detailed work plan will be made to clarify the responsibilities and requirements of each team. The teams will coordinate the communication and service guarantee work for foreigners coming to Zhanjiang under the arrangement of the Guangdong provincial government and the Zhanjiang government.

Send personnel to transfer foreigners to Zhanjiang

Personnel who are familiar with English will be sent to Guangzhou and Shenzhen ports with medical and public security personnel to transfer foreigners returning to Zhanjiang, communicating and liasioning with them. In addition, Zhanjiang will entrust relevant departments to issue recruitment notices, reserving foreign language translation talents to help manage returned foreigners with the health department, public security department, and community services.

Strengthen business training for foreign-related personnel

The Zhanjiang foreign affairs office will carry out training on guidelines, instructions, relevant laws, and regulations for foreign affairs staff involved in COVID-19 prevention and control work. Staff involved in transshipment work will summarize and share their experiences, while specific requirements will be put forward to strictly control the epidemic situation.

Interpret related policies to foreigners

The foreign affairs office has issued a warm notice in Chinese and English to people returning to Zhanjiang, reminding them to register their personal information through the "Zhanjiang Health Code." Those who come from countries severely affected by the epidemic or have travel history or residence history in those countries within the past 14 days need to be notified. In addition, Chinese and English versions of instructions regarding centralized isolation observation or home isolation observation will be printed for people returning to Zhanjiang, interpreting China's epidemic prevention measures and effectiveness, as well as seeking the understanding and support of foreigners.
