Zhanjiang in South China's Guangdong province distributed talent apartments to 40 high-level talents for the first time on July 15, marking the formation of a relatively complete housing security and supply system in the city.

Currently, the city has basically met the basic housing needs of low- and middle-income residents in the urban area by providing public rental housing at low rent prices.

For middle-income residents, Zhanjiang has implemented the housing monetary subsidy policy for nearly 20 years in order to reduce pressure on them to buy houses or take out loans.

Apart from talent apartments, a subsidy between 600,000 yuan ($85,856) to 1 million yuan for purchasing houses will be available for high-level talents in Zhanjiang who were introduced to the city after April 7, 2018 and that have promised to work in the city for five years.

The batch of talent apartments is located in the central area of Zhanjiang, with convenient transportation available and graceful surroundings.

It is believed that providing housing for high-level talents can assist in building the city into a talent hub in the Beibu Gulf, and constantly improve the senses of acquisition, happiness, and belonging of high-level talents in the city, according to Wu Qunzhong, director of the Zhanjiang bureau of housing and urban-rural development.

For those high-level talents that have been recognized by the city's bureau of human resources and social security, signed labor contracts of more than one year with units in the city's urban areas, and do not have a house in urban areas or have not enjoyed the housing welfare, they can apply for the talent apartments.
