Projects by Zhanjiang veterans won several awards at the final of the second Guangdong Veterans Entrepreneurship Competition, which was held in Guangzhou, the capital city of Guangdong province, on July 28.
The competition was jointly organized by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Veterans Affairs, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security, as well as the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education.
The competition was divided into three stages: preliminary, semi-final, and final. It was composed of three industry competitions, namely the emerging industry group, the traditional industry and life services group, as well as the modern agriculture group. It also consisted of two special competitions, namely the innovation team group and the targeted poverty alleviation group.
A total of 421 projects from the 21 prefecture-level cities in Guangdong took part in the competition, covering the fields of 5G, big data, cloud computing, internet plus, new energy, new materials, characteristic planting and breeding, deep processing of agricultural products, as well as agricultural informatization.
The Laoma cassava project from Lianjiang won first prize in the competition's targeted poverty alleviation group, while the "Zihaimo" hybrid scallop project and the rice-fish culture project won second and third prize respectively in the same group.
The Zhanjiang veteran innovation industrial park was awarded third prize in the competition's modern agriculture group.
