Construction of the first phase of the BASF (Guangdong) Integrated Base project in Zhanjiang is currently in full swing.
The construction permit for the project's structures was issued by the Zhanjiang Economic and Technological Development Zone on Aug 24, marking that the first batch of the project's equipment has officially entered the civil engineering phase.
The piling work of the first batch of equipment, which will be used for the production of engineering plastics and thermoplastic polyurethane, was started on May 30.
To date, basic facilities for the project have been completed. The temporary construction roads were built in October 2019, while the temporary electricity and water works were finished in March this year. Procurement of fire fighting vehicles and the preliminary design work for a first-level fire station is underway, which is expected to be put into use before June 2021.
As China's first wholly foreign-owned large-scale petrochemical integration project and boasting a total investment of $10 billion, the BASF (Guangdong) Integrated Base project began construction in Zhanjiang in November 2019. The first batch of the project's equipment will be put into operation in 2022. The entire integrated base is expected to be completed in 2030.
