Officials of Nanning Customs recently announced that the foreign trade volume of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region in 2024 reached 756.39 billion yuan ($103.26 billion), up 9.4 percent year over year.
Of note, the trade volume between Guangxi and ASEAN totaled 397.82 billion yuan, a 17.2 percent increase, marking ASEAN as Guangxi's leading trade partner for the 25th consecutive year.
ASEAN remains Guangxi's most significant trade partner, accounting for half of the region's foreign trade. Last year, trade with Vietnam reached 295.58 billion yuan, growing 16.4 percent year over year.
Guangxi's consumption continues to recover positively, boosting imports of consumer goods to 18.06 billion yuan, an increase of 15.3 percent. Products such as Vietnamese coffee, Indonesian palm oil, and Thai mangosteen are particularly popular among local consumers.
The high-quality development of Guangxi's industries, including automotive, paper manufacturing, and new energy, has accelerated. Last year, Guangxi exported 17.61 billion yuan worth of automobiles, 15.79 billion yuan of lithium batteries, and 10.67 billion yuan of paper products, increasing by 6.6 percent, 96.8 percent, and 48.2 percent, respectively.
Additionally, specialty agricultural products like mandarin oranges, river snail rice noodles, and star anise from Guangxi continued to sell well in ASEAN, Europe, and the United States, achieving rapid export growth.
