Dahua Yao autonomous county's goal of connecting the area's small villages with 512 new roads is currently two years ahead of schedule and expected to be completed by June 2018.

The county has viewed road infrastructure as a key step to poverty alleviation since a 2016 survey showed that 1,364 villages in the county did not have concrete roads. Since then more than 400 million yuan ($62.3 million) has been raised to improve the traffic situation.

Totaling 970 kilometers, the roads will connect all the villages that have at least 20 households, and so far 370 roads have been completed. Once fully completed and open to the public, the roads will greatly improve the traffic conditions of rural areas in Dahua, especially the Dashi Mountain area.
