Since the beginning of this year, Hechi's Tian'e county has increased the support of funds, technology, talents and policies to develop the silkworm industry. To date, the county has planted 15,000 mu (100 hectares) of mulberry orchards.

The county has introduced supportive policies to develop the silkworm industry. The village cooperatives and production entities that plant more than 50 mu of contiguous mulberry orchards can receive full subsidies for mulberry seedlings. The county also provides silkworm industry technical training and guidance.

Shangfu village silkworm base in Xingen township, Tian'e county is a village-level collective economic project. The village planted 135 mu of mulberry trees and raised 185 silkworms in 11 batches last year, with an output value of nearly 300,000 yuan ($44,458). At the same time, the base arranged jobs for locals, helping them earn more than 3,000 yuan per year per household.

Chen Yujun, head of a cooperative in Shangfu village, introduced that the base plans to raise 12 batches of 300 silkworms this year, and it is expected to produce more than 15,000 kilograms of silkworm cocoons, with an output value of about 400,000 yuan.

"The weather conditions in Tian'e county are good, and all the indicators of silkworm cocoons can reach a 5A grade or above," said Wei Rijian, a silkworm acquirer from Binyang county, Nanning. Wei added that he could purchase 1,000 to 1,500 metric tons of silkworm cocoons, and the volume can reach more than 2,500 tons during the peak periods.
