In recent years, Du'an Yao autonomous county has been exploring rural vitalization, excavating resources from the karst mountainous area, as well as promoting the development of modern industries, planting and breeding of various crops, and leisure tourism.

The county planted 633,000 mu (42,200 hectares) of grain in 2021, and yielded 43,000 head of cattle, 290,300 sheep, and 299,500 pigs. The entire industrial production value of industrial parks amounted to 1.54 billion yuan, and it has invested 935 million yuan ($136 million) in industrial development. The county welcomed 249.25 million visitors, who spent a total of 3.04 billion yuan on travel-related expenses in the area.

In order to develop a tourist destination for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the county has been accelerating the construction of a significant transit infrastructure and waterways, as well as intensifying the construction of tourism amenities. Through attractive investment activities, it also encourages industrial integration with the Greater Bay Area.

Since 2021, the county has introduced 10 industrial projects from the Greater Bay Area, including seven projects with a value of more than 100 million yuan.

In 2021, the county used 13.09 million yuan of minority development funds to implement 34 infrastructure construction projects in ethnic areas. At the same time, efforts were made to promote ethnic unity as well as the economy and society's sustainable and healthy development.
