Huanjiang beef cattle enters national high quality list

The Huanjiang beef cattle from Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county, Hechi city in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, has been recognized among the third batch of 2024 National Famous, Special and Excellent New Agricultural Products.

The breeding of Huanjiang beef cattle has a history of over 500 years. Since 2005, Huanjiang has been recognized as the hometown of Chinese beef cattle. Huanjiang has prioritized the development of the beef cattle industry, focusing on breed improvement, large-scale breeding, sales expansion, and deep processing, continuously optimizing the beef cattle industry structure.

By the end of 2024, Huanjiang beef cattle had 25,400 cattle ready for market and 30,200 in stock. Over 10,000 mu (667 hectares) of high-quality forage had been planted, supporting over 20,000 cattle, with two livestock product processing enterprises established. The scale production and industrial operation of Huanjiang beef cattle have shown initial success.

In recent years, the county has implemented strategies to improve agricultural quality, promote green agriculture, and strengthen agricultural brands. As of now, Huanjiang has certified 22 green foods, four geographical indication agricultural products, and one nationally famous, special, and excellent new agricultural product.
