Hechi section of Guiyang-Nanning railway covered by 5G
The special action for the 5G network upgrade on the Hechi section of the Guiyang-Nanning High-speed Railway was recently completed.
The Hechi section of the Guiyang-Nanning High-speed Railway spans 162 kilometers and includes 23 tunnels with a total length of 109.8 km, presenting complex and varied terrain that poses significant challenges for optimizing the communication network.
To address these challenges, Hechi launched a comprehensive special action for the 5G network upgrade on the Hechi section in July 2024. This project marks the first time in Guangxi's communication history that a network optimization project has addressed the fastest trains and the longest tunnels. It is also the most complex joint rectification action in Hechi's information and communication industry.
The project involved a total of 288 professional construction team members and 114 vehicle deployments. It resulted in the optimization of 104 base stations along the route, the building of six additional base stations, and the optimization and testing of 84 indoor distribution system points covering 103.61 km.
Tests showed significant improvements in various indicators for communication operators. The voice call connection rate exceeded 95 percent, the average downlink access speed of the 5G network reached 270 Mbps, and videos were clear and smooth without buffering. Daily data traffic increased by more than 40 percent.
