Expressway linking Luocheng, Yizhou to break ground

The Luocheng-Yizhou section of the G7221 Hengyang-Nanning Expressway is scheduled to start construction this year, marking the project's entry into the formal construction stage, local officials announced on Jan 13.

The Luocheng-Yizhou section is an interprovincial corridor connecting Nanning, Yizhou, Luocheng, Longsheng, and Chengbu. It was included in the national expressway network in July 2022. 

The project starts near Daxin village in Sibai town, Luocheng Mulam autonomous county, connecting with the planned end of the Rong'an-Luocheng Expressway. A new interchange hub is poised to connect it to the S22 Guilin-Hechi Expressway. The route passes through Sibai town in Luocheng and Liusanjie town in Yizhou, ending near Gucheng village in Yizhou.

The total length of the project is 34.7 kilometers, with 14.7 km in Luocheng and 20 km in Yizhou. The total investment is 5.93 billion yuan ($808.7 million), and Guangxi Transportation Investment Group owns the project.

The project's advancement is vital for building a modern comprehensive transportation system, meeting the growing transportation needs, promoting infrastructure construction, expanding domestic demand, and boosting economic growth.
