The 9th Cantonese Opera Festival kicked off on Nov 20 in Guangzhou and will run until Nov 30, presenting a spectacular lineup of 47 Cantonese opera and music performances, along with a showcase of 11 Cantonese opera films over the course of 10 days.

Moreover, a series of vibrant Cantonese Opera Carnivals, art exhibitions, and educational lectures seamlessly blending culture and tourism will be held to enable both residents and tourists to fully appreciate the enchanting artistry of Cantonese opera.

This year's festival boasts an unprecedented scale, having received over 400 program applications and involving more than 3,000 Cantonese opera masters, newcomers, and enthusiasts from across the globe.

The performances will take place at various venues, including the Guangzhou Opera House, the Hung Sin-nui Arts Centre, and the Friendship Theater, spanning numerous districts of Guangzhou.

The diverse lineup features performers of all ages, ranging from traditional opera excerpts and modern Cantonese song performances to children's Cantonese opera specials and symphonic concerts featuring renowned artists, showcasing the mesmerizing charm of Cantonese opera art.

As a prestigious showcase for Cantonese opera art and Lingnan culture, the Cantonese Opera Festival brings art into people's lives. Through this event, Guangzhou will continue to foster deeper integration of culture and tourism, propel the innovative development of the cultural and tourism industries, and further elevate the new "performance + tourism" format.
