Guangzhou athletes make historic debut at Asian Winter Games

At the ninth Asian Winter Games hosted in Harbin, Guangdong made history by sending 17 athletes to compete, marking the first time for Guangdong athletes to participate in the prestigious event.

With the rise in popularity of winter sports, China is preparing for a series of upcoming sporting events, the Asian Winter Games, the World Games, and the National Games, taking place from February to November. Chinese athletes persist in their pursuit of excellence, demonstrating the nation's advancement towards becoming a sports powerhouse in Asia and globally.

In just over 200 days, Guangzhou will host the opening ceremony of the 15th National Games, marking the city's third time hosting the event. Both the Asian Winter Games and the National Games embody the Olympic spirit of "faster, higher, stronger". 

The Asian Winter Games showcase the allure of winter sports, whereas the National Games exemplify the fusion of national fitness and competitive sports, infusing dynamism into China's sports landscape.

The Asian Winter Games receive participants from nations throughout Asia, whereas the National Games stand as a significant domestic sporting extravaganza, uniting elite athletes from across China. These two events collectively foster the globalization and domestication of sports in China.
