Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) is a major international university in South China that is known for its globally-minded faculty and its research on international languages, literature, culture, trade and strategic studies.

The university boasts four campuses with a total area of 162.88 hectares. It has19,779 full-time undergraduate students, 4,794 graduate students and over 30,000 international and continuing-education students.

GDUFS has formed a paradigm of coordinated development between foreign language disciplines and non-foreign language disciplines, as well as a sustainable development mode featuring multiple disciplines and multilingual disciplines.

With its teaching staff totaling 2,129, among whom 53.8% are professors or associate professors, the university has 25 faculties and one independent institute, offering 67 undergraduate programs in literature, economics, management, law, engineering, science, education and arts. With 28 foreign languages available, it offers the greatest variety of foreign language programs in South China.

GDUFS is home to 33 national first-class undergraduate discipline construction programs,14 provincial first-class undergraduate discipline construction programs, eight national characteristic disciplines , 24 provincial characteristic disciplines, six provincial key majors, one national key discipline, seven provincial key disciplines, two post-doctoral research centers , two first-class doctor’s programs, 18 second-class doctor’s programs, 12 first-class master’s programs, 54 second-class master’s programs and 11 professional master’s programs.

It is a university:

1) known for outstanding foreign language teaching, offering 28 foreign language programs, such as English, Japanese, Korean, Indonesian-Malay, Vietnamese, Thai, Russian, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Arabic and Portuguese, Hindi, and Laos;

2) boasting a long list of provincial key majors, including international trade, business administration, international finance, accounting, logistics management, convention economy, international business and more;

3) providing English language programs in the areas of international business, Chinese business culture and an MBA program

4) having a leading graduate employment rate;

5) authorized by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation affiliated with the Chinese Ministry of Education to conduct China’ s Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (Chinese language proficiency test), known as HSK.
