New library goes into trial operation in Baiyun
According to Zhang Caihong, director of the library, with a total value of more than 1 billion yuan ($156.35 million), the new library will act as a new cultural landmark in the central area of Baiyun New Town.
“We have made huge strides in library facilities, service management, and market position to better serve Baiyun residents. We aim to build the library into a cultural complex integrating the functions of reading and knowledge sharing,” the director said.
2021 marks the beginning of China’s 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025). Under the background of the country’s new journey of building a modern socialist country in an all-around way, the completion and operation of the new library acts as a milestone in the development of public libraries in the district and a starting point for the next take-off, said Luo Tao, director of the district’s culture, radio, television, tourism and sports bureau.
