Shennong Cottage Traditional Chinese Medicine Museum
Situated at the south foot of Baiyun Mountain in Guangzhou, Shennong Cottage Traditional Chinese Medicine Museum covers 25,300 square meters. It is the first garden-like museum in China that integrates elements of nature and culture to present the development of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and Chinese herbal medicine planting. The museum opened to the public in Nov 2006.

The museum comprises the Traditional Chinese Medicine Park and Lingnan Medicine Park to showcase TCM culture through reliefs, landscape walls, specimens and pharmaceutical equipment, as well as images and videos, and features nearly 1,300 kinds of medicinal plants, such as isatis roots, upas trees and southern Chinese yews.
The museum also includes Lingnan Palace and Songqiao Palace. At the end of 2013, Songqiao Palace was built into Wang Laoji Herbal Tea Museum to show the origin and inheritance of this medicinal drink and its 190-year development. Characteristic scenic spots like galleries and interactive areas were also set up to improve visitors’ viewing experience.
Since its completion in 2006, the museum has been widely recognized by governments at the national, provincial and municipal levels. It was recognized as a national 4A-rated tourist attraction at the end of 2017. The museum has launched teaching bases with the Guangzhou Municipal Education Bureau, the Education Bureau of Baiyun District, Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University and other renowned universities and institutions. Since its opening, the museum has attracted over 2.5 million visitors.
